Wanita (Bishop) Orf, 68, of Western, NE passed away September 16, 2016. She was born in Mannheim Germany, January 8, 1948 to Frieda Bishop. When she was five years old, she journeyed by ship to the United States with her mother, where they joined her father, John Bishop, in Omaha. Wanita continued to live in Omaha throughout her younger years. She completed her education at McMillan Junior High School and Omaha North High School in Omaha, NE. Wanita met Henry at the Nebraska State Fair in September 1968, after a few short months of courtship they married on a snowy winter day, December 21, 1968. Wanita and Henry raised their four children in Western, NE. When her children were younger, Wanita was a homemaker and had an in home daycare, where she not only loved and nurtured her own children, but dozens of others. As her children got a little older she went to work at Swingsters, in Fairbury, as a seamstress and later became an assembler at Peterson's Manufacturing, in DeWitt, where she later retired. Wanita's greatest joys in life were her children, grand-children and great grand-children.
Survivors include husband, Henry Orf; son, Lance Orf & special friend, Carolyn, son, Alan & Heidi (Parker) Orf; daughter Jennifer Orf; son, Chad & Rebecca Orf; grandchildren Lance Michael Jr. & Tiffany Orf, Jody Alexander, Amanda & Dedrik Punches, Dakota Orf, Houston Parker, Kobe Orf, Jasmine Hobza, Alexa Orf, Bella Orf; great grandchildren, Jameson Orf, Khylar Punches, Jaxton Orf; brother, John & Gayle Bishop and family.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
A Memorial Service will be, 10:30 AM on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 309 E. Spruce St., Western, NE. Pastor Lila Bottolfsen will officiate.
