Obituary

Willard L. Maryska, 93, of Wilber, Nebraska passed away peacefully on Friday, September 15, 2017 in Lincoln at BryanLGH East Hospital. He was born January 3, 1924 in Wilber to Lumir & Marie (Dusanek) Maryska. He graduated from Wilber High School in 1942. Willard served his country in the United States Navy serving during World War II from 1944-46 and also during the Korean War from 1951-52. He married Alice Mae Pechoucek on April 6, 1954 in Lincoln. They were blessed to be married for 52 years before Alice's passing in June of 2006.

Willard farmed west of Wilber while also working at Petersen Manufacturing in DeWitt and then at Wells Implement in Plymouth before retiring. He and Alice lived on the farm west of Wilber until moving into Wilber in the early 2000's.

He was a 65 year member of the Louis-Milan American Legion Post 101 of Wilber, 70 year member of T.J. Sokol Hall in Wilber and a former member of the Nebraska Farmers Union

His hobbies included handyman work which he was very good at, word search puzzles and he enjoyed reading the newspaper and keeping up on the news. He also enjoyed listening to Czech music and going to the Chat With The Czech Class.

Survivors include his daughter, Diane Siedlik and husband Frank of Omaha, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lumir and Marie Maryska; wife, Alice M. (Pechoucek) Maryska; father and mother-in-law, Adolph and Clara Pechoucek; brother-in-law, Leonard Pechoucek.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber with Pastor Lila Bottolfsen officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3-8 PM with family greeting friends 5-8 PM and all at the funeral home in Wilber. Visitation will continue on Wednesday 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Wilber Czech Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Wilber Fire and Rescue.
